Default What brand of feather for fletching?

I am new to fletching my own arrows and have a question. Which brand of feathers are the preferred brand? I purchased the Gateway feathers recently and noticed that the bases are a little thick compared to the ones that are on my arrows that I had fletched at my local shop last season.

Could this just be a variance because of the batch of feathers that I received or is there a different more preferred brand out there?

Thanks for any all help you can provide.

I have used both Gateway and Trueflight. Both work well and I have noticed a variance in the thickness of the bases on both.

Trueflight is a little more consistant on the base thickness than Gateway, but they both work fine.

I've used both, and I like Tru-flight's too, because of the way they grind the quill.
Someone else told me the same thing.

I have only used Gateway because thats all I can find, but have heard
True flight are supposed to be better. Go to true flights web site. It's
pretty informative as to the benefits of using feathers compaired to
vanes.

Tru-Flight feathers. Gateway bases, to me, didnt seem to be as consistant.
