Default hard to explain question about site pin

I was at a bow shop the other day and I heard the guy behind the counter say when you draw the bow and look through the peep the first thing you should do is center the circle around your site in the peep. Then center the pin in the peep. Wouldn't it make sense to have your first pin placed directly in the center of your site? Where do most of you place your primary pin?

If you place the outside of the pin guard inside the diameter of the peep hole, it acts like a rear sight. Where as, if you center pins in you peep sight, sometimes you end up changing anchor points and messin with a bunch of stuff without knowing it. I have a centered pin on a movable sight bracket and use a big peep to align the outside of the pin guard with the peep.

The ring on my Deadnuts hunter is too big to center in my peep.

Yeh, you don't center the guard and then the pin.,. You center the guard in the peep and just use the pin you want. Don't know what the guy in the shop was trying to say. Just center the guard.

I always centered the pin in the peep. Is that wrong? It seems like some are saying to center the ring around the site and then put the pin on the target keeping the site centered. Does this make sense?

bigbuck,NO,it is not wrong but more and more people are now centering the sight housing rather than the pin.

I myself love to center the ROUND housing of my Extreme Snyper XLT sight on my hunting bow but I have gone back to centering my pin on my target bow with a micro peep and I believe I am shooting better with it but this combo isn't good for hunting.

When I was drawing 28 inch,my ring on the deadnuts was a little to big to center as well.I dropped my draw to 27 inch and its perfect.Thats when I was using my peep. Now im using the no-peep and it dosnt get any better

That's why most of us always say there is no "BEST" in archery. Just what works for the individual. But you never know what works until you try. In your case you got what works for you. KUDO's.
