Default No Cover Scent w/Scent-Lok???

I had the feeling my new Savannah Scent-Lok suit wasn't working up to its full (advertised) capability, so I checked into it here at HuntingNet.com. Someone suggested that the suit needed to be heated to 400 degrees to be completely activated - and subsequently work properly. That seemed a little extreme to me, so I e-mailed Scent-Lok and inquired. The nice folks at Scent-Lok said no, a home dryer on high for 30-40 minutes was more than sufficient for activating a Scent-Lok suit. Well then, if I've activated it properly, I asked, why can I still smell through it (body odor, etc.). The gentleman asked if I was using a cover scent. I told him that I use the Fresh Earth scent wafers - one pinned to my suit, and one to my back-pack. He told me that the Scent-Lok suit was absorbing the abundance of Fresh Earth scent, and therefore probably not effectively absorbing all of my scent.

Anyone else have an opinion on the matter??

Thanks!

He was being honest! With scentlok , you dont want to use any type of scent or scent eliminator near it. When I activate my scentlok , I throw it in my plastic storage tub imediately. When I hunt , I use scent eliminator on my hat and boots only. Go pick up some no-scent carbon wash (liquid laundry detergent) , made just for scentlok suits and wash your suit. When you reactivate it , you should be fine.

BTW , I make sure I eliminate as much of my scent as possible before putting on my suit to make it last longer. Before every hunt , I shower with ivory soap (including my hair) and use scentless anti-perspirant(?sp) and avoid all odors as much as possible , especially smokers or gasoline , family pets and baby diapers<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Thats always a good excuse for getting out of changing a diaper.

So I guess I shouldn't use the earth scent dryer sheets in the dryer while I am reactivating my scent lok clothing???

I tend to agree with BF. No additional cover scent is needed. The gentleman from Scent Lok's suggestion sound plausible enough to me. Though highly effective the carbon in the suit can only absorb so much scent.
