Default Q2XL vs. Ultra Tec

I've been doing some internet comparing on these two bows and they come out pretty similar to me. Anyone have any feelings one way or the other, besides the fact that Hoyt is better or Mathews is better, etc. I need real opinions based on fact. I haven't shot either bow but am going to try tracking them down. Anyone got real speeds with a about a 400 grain arrow? Thanks.

I have the ultratec so I may be a little biased when I say it's better. Their both fine bows , I chose mine based on the feel , I like the Hoyt grips over Mathews. As far as speed? It depends on which type you get. I have the command cams (double cam) and with a 400gn arrow I'm shooting in the upper 270's at 65lbs. I wouldn't make your choice based on speed. If you like the smooth draw (and accuracy<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>) of a double cam , go with the command cams. The command cams have an excellent fine tune draw length adjustments which dont require a bow press. If you want a solocam , the versacam is very nice. The versacam has the draw length adjustment and the back stop adjustment.
Dont base your decision on speed or adjustment , base it on which one feels awesome in your hands. Their both great bows!

I would tend to agree with the others. The multitude of options available on the UltraTec make it much more &quot;customizable&quot;. The last I checked there were at least 3 separate limb options and 3 different cams that could be used on the bow.

But then again, Hoy's 2003 lineup is right around the corner so you may want to wait to see what improvements they have come up with.

I have two Ultratecs, both versa-cams. My bow is a 60-70
lb. originally it was set down to only 55lbs. because I
simply couldn't pull the 60 lb. setting. My PSE nova
vector 4 was set at 65lbs. and i could shoot it all day.
Just took getting used to the the different draw of a
hard one cam. Anyway 28 3/4&quot; draw, @55lbs, 430 grn.XX78
equalled 224 fps. Same arrow, and draw length from 65lb,
PSE 224fps. Now with the Ultratec with 359 grn CE 3-D select
it made 250 fps. My wifes Ultratec is a 50-60lb set @44 lbs.
(She just had her second baby, so she's not quite as strong as before, but she'll get it.) Not sure of the grn. weight of her arrow, but it's a CE CX100, 26 1/4 draw length, and she netted 226 out of her bow. That's not right!! She got the same velocity at 44lbs. as I did at 65 with my nova! Gotta love technology! Oh yes one last thing, I made two robinhoods in one month with my Hoyt. Never had one until the Ultratec came along.
