Default Finally did some long range shooting with my Allegiance

The weather finally got decent enough today that I had some time after work to do some longer range shooting with the Allegiance. I only shot for about a 1/2 hour or so, but from what I did do, I'm impressed. I think I may need a 1/16" centershot adjustment to bring the groups into better alignment, but this bow will shoot.

I shot out to 50 yards tonight and was consistantly holding 4" groups at that distance. What really gets me, is I didn't have to really, really drill my concentration down to do it. Most of my previous bows required a very high attention to detail on my part to ensure this accuracy. I'm not saying I still don't, but this bow seems very forgiving in my hands.

I attribute most of this to the grip. For years I"ve shot Hoyt and their grips are very thin. Last year I struggled with consistant hand placement with the Xtec. The grip on the Allegiance is very repeatable for me and my left and rights have all but disapeared. Its a little meatier than a Hoyt grip.

Just thought I was share my experience with this bow. I'm definitly liking it. Can't wait till weather really starts to improve and I can spend some time with bare shaft tuning.

So I'm confused. I thought some guys actually do better by taking the grip competely off their bows. Is it really just that personal of thing?

soilarch, its the difference between trying to my hand the same on a round surface vs. a flat surface with definate edges.

It is personal preference. I for one am finding that a very narrow grip isn't the most comfortable or repeatable for me. Don't get me wrong, I shot the Xtec last year well enough to kill two deer without problems, but I still did not have the consistancy on the range that I was looking for. The Allegiance grip is a little wider, but hand placement for me is easier to find consitantly with this grip.

I really enjoy shooting long range. I'll probably shoot some today since it nice again. Maybe get out to 60 or so. I don't usually shoot any farther than that though Techy 60 is a pretty good poke with a hunting setup.

That is what I used to think until I got a bowtech last year. You'll be shooting farther I'll poke targets over 100 yards with my hunting setup. Just keep backing up, pretty soon 60 yards will seem like a chip shot.[8D]

Let us know how 60 goes.

I am waiting for some better weather. I haven't shot over 20 with my new Alliegance yet. It is killing me
