Default Selecting carbon shafts

I am trying to decide what the field benefit would be to me for selecting a .03 vs .06 tolerance shaft. Obviously one is higher quality but what would a relative bigginer like myself expect to get from them? Basically I am comparing Gold tip Hunter XT to the lower grade Expeditions. I dont mind spending the extra money if they are either more durable or group better at 30 yds or less which is all I consider my effective range at this point based on my rusty skills.

The closer the tolerance of the shaft the more consistant your shots will be. Not so much at close range, but at 30 to 35 yards there is a substantial difference in grouping.

sorry for all the questions but what would a substantial difference in grouping mean?

Terry,
Read this whole discussion.....it covers pretty much everything you are bound to hear. Pretty much the same question was asked and hammered out recently:

If your using fixed blade broadheads buy the XT's. I bought the cheap ones (6) and could only use 3 of them for hunting. Put the broadheads on and then spin the arrow upright on a piece of glass, that will tell you how straight they are. For me the straight one fly the straightest. Makes sense if you think about it. The cheap ones cost me more money because I had to buy more arrows (XT's). Good luck..
