Default Lighter arrows

Right now I am shooting a Beman 300 shaft that is 31" long with 100 grain tips. Sometimes I use vanes, but most of the time I shoot feathers.

My bow is a 04 Bowtech Pro 40, set between 65 & 70 lbs. with a 30" draw. I know I can cut my shafts down to 30", but I still end up with an arrow around 430 grains.

I like the KE I get from this setup but would like to pick up a little speed if possible ( Not sure of my speed now).

Any sugestions? Thanks

with the speed increase you will probably maintain the KE and will probably have very close to the same momentum.

the difference you will encounter is how much flatter a faster lighter arrow shoots. which is a very GOOD thing.

You could switch to a shaft with a lighter gpi. Just make sure you are spined correctly in doing so.

Swamp Dog is correct. There are quite a few carbon shafts to choose from, and weighing as little as 5.5gr/inch up to over 12gr/inch. You still have to deal with being properly spined, however, so this narrows the choices somewhat. I say to plug into websites of arrow makers and see what they offer. The array we have to choose from is quite astounding, along with the quality and price ranges. That being said, I think you'll find that lighter usually mean better quality (target & 3D arrows) and priced accordingly.
