Default 11 Year Old Hunter...

Here's my situation:
My daughter has been hunting with me for the last three years. She'll be 12 this year and ready and legal to hunt with her own bow. I'm getting her the Micro Midas III, she draws 30lbs. and has a draw legnth of 21".
Here's the problem:
I was told that her "numbers" aren't high enough to be on th charts to tell me what size arrows (carbon) to get her or what grain broadheads to get.
I figured I'd get her carbon arrows for faster arrow speed at such a low draw weight. Is that a good idea? I also figured on getting her fixed blades (probably 85 g. Muzzys). I shoot mechanical, but I thought again with her draw weight so low that there might be a problem with mechanicals not opening.
I'd appreciate all comments and advice...

Here in Illinois I know you have to be atleast pulling 40 pounds to hunt deer. I don't know if thats how it is in MI or not. But, getting her carbon arrows has it's good points and bad points. The good is that yeah, they do fly faster, but she has to becareful and inspect them before she shoots them every time. She has to remember that if they have a crack or anything, they could blow up and possibly injure her. Pulling only 30 lbs. it might not be that big of deal, but if you do go with carbons, just warn her and teach her how to inspect them. Thats great that your daughter is going to be hunting with her own bow. I bet your are very excited. Good luck and happy and safe shooting.

My boy has the Micro Midas III and its a great bow. I have shot quarter sized groups with it at 20 yards even with it being 5" too short for me.

He has not hunted with it yet because he is not up to 40 lbs. yet which is the minimum legal draw weight in Ohio. He is 11 years old and should be close to 40 lbs. draw by this fall. He will be using GT carbon arrows with a cut-on-contact broadhead. You do not want to use mechanicals! Not near enough KE with these low poundages and short draw lengths.

Good luck.
