Default RE: Spiral cam1/2 adjustable ?

Spudly, There is a marginal adjustment of 1/2" to 3/4" of an inch. I tried the spiral cam and the regular cam 1/2. I prefer the standard cam 1/2 on my Pro and Ultra Tec. Ask to shoot one of each. You may still perfer the spiral but there is a substantial difference especially in the roll over.

It is a used bow, and I wont get a chance to shoot it, its just half the price of what I would pay for new.
Is the adulstment in the cam or in the string,? I would need to change it from 28 to 27.5-27 ... It seem like a good price, Im starting to wonder if I should buy it and try to make it work, (I am a release shooter, if that makes a dif) all the draw lentgh calcs I have done show me at a 27 inch draw.

The adjustments are done with the string and cable. If the draw length is close, you will have no problem.

I wouldn't recommend a Spiral Cam 1/2

My best hunting buddy just bought one last year (Protec, I believe), and he will be trading it off for this season.

Both he and I are very experienced, very accomplished bow hunters, so I'm not some weekend warrior with no sense or hunting experience.

In my opinion (and his), the Spiral Cam 1/2 has no valley in which to hold the bow at full draw. For lack of better terms, I'll explain it as follows: When you draw a bow, the draw weight increases to peak, then decreases to your hold weight in a "valley." If you continue to pull, you'll run into a "wall" where you can pull the string no further.

With that particular cam, the Valley allows for absolutely NO creep. You must hold at full draw against the "Wall," causing your effective hold weight to be excessive. This results in a bow that wants to tear your arm off at the slightest thought of relaxation in your shoulders. That cam is built for serious speed, and it gets that speed by maximizing the energy output through the entire travel of the string.

Hoyt recommends it for expert archers only. I consider myself to be an "expert," but I find this cam to be extremely user un-friendly.

It would be fine for a target setup, but I wouldn't recommend it for any type of hunter with the reasonable expectation of having to hold at full draw for any extended period. To maximize the Spiral cam's potential, you must be mechanically sound. It's hard to maintain said mechanics 25 feet in the air, hanging over the side of a treestand, in your winter gear, with your heart pounding and a million other things going on.

Not a good cam for hunting, IMHO.

I'd recommend any of the other hybrid cams or single-cam bows. Avoid the Spiral Cam & 1/2
