January 6, 2005 - Gold Tip Acquires Blackhawk Arrow Company
Gold Tip, Inc. today announced plans to acquire Blackhawk Arrow Company™ (Blackhawk) for an undisclosed amount. Following the acquisition, Gold Tip, Inc., a leading manufacturer and innovator of graphite composite arrow shafts, plans to manufacture and sell Vapor™ arrows which Blackhawk first launched in 1995. Blackhawk, based in Ohio, will be a division of Gold Tip, Inc. located in Orem, Utah. There are no immediate plans to relocate Blackhawk.
"We are very pleased with this most current acquisition," said Marvin Carlston, President of Gold Tip. "This will give us the opportunity to expand our quality products throughout the arrow market. Marvin Carlston, who has been in the archery business for 17 years, is the pioneer of the wrapped graphite and composite arrows. An engineer with a passion for bowhunting, Marvin followed his dream to build the best arrow in the world. Literally starting in his garage, Marvin and his partner Vaughn Anderson are now one of the largest manufactures of arrow shafts in the world producing the well known "Toughest Arrow You"ll Ever Shoot".

William "Bill" Gartland has been a successful businessman in the archery industry for over thirty years. An avid hunter who takes pride in building relationships and taking care of customers, he will continue to service Blackhawk"s customers. In addition to continuing service to their current Blackhawk clients, William Gartland Associates will also help service Gold Tip"s expanding customer base of more than 1600 dealers nationwide.
Gold Tip will retain Blackhawk"s name, employees and products. Gold Tip and Blackhawk have more than one hundred employees dedicated to building the best arrows in the world with over 20 archery specialists interacting directly with our growing customer base.
