As luck would have it, I am 400 miles from home in IL, I make a rookie mistake and and my string pops off my bow. I took it to a shop and they looked it over and put the string back on and said everything seemed fine? What are some things I made need to consider at this point?
I shoot a 2003 Hoyt Protec, Cam & Half. The cables stayed in place, only the draw string rolled off the cam. No apparant damage, but concerned as I have 2 1/2 more months of hunting here in MS
Thanks for any help
Joel

If the shop didn't see any glaring issue, you should be ok. Perhaps it was too much torque on the string at full draw?
I assume you've shot it several times since and all is well? Perhaps it was a fluke. Hopefully you didn't just release on a big buck when it happened...

No, after 10+ years of bowhunting I made a stupid mistake. One that I knew better than to make. I hooked my pull up rope directly to my string. As I was pulling up, it got caught on a branch, I gave it a nice little snatch, and "twang" the string popped off.[:@]
I was so pissed at myself!!! When I hooked the damn thing up I said to myself "why are you hooking it to the string?" But in my haste to climb a tree I skipped 10 seconds that cost me entire afternoon of hunting!!!

If it makes you feel any better, I'm gonna learn from your experience...
I too have been bowhunting for many moons, and after reading your post, I recall that I routinely hook my pull up rope to my string... I had never considered what a problem it could create. No more of that for me.
So... Thanks

Well I hope your bow's fine ,and rookie mistakes happen to all of us .I had the same thing happen this summer ,but luckily I was shooting 3D at the bow shopso i was only a short walk away. Double creek hopefully thing's are fine and I also hope you get a big one .
Best thing you can do is forget about it and shoot the bow. I assume you took it to a shop to get the string back on the cam and have it looked over for damage. In that case I'd say you already feel that they know more than you, so when they OK'd it for use I'd just use it. Very seldom does any damage occur from this. It happens. Get over it.
