sticky cable guard

my cable guard just started to get very sticky and when I'm drawing it squeaks and is bumpy drawing back. What can I put on the cable guard to smooth it out that doesn't smell bad. Or should I get a new guard slide

Try washing it in warm soapy water to get and dirt and string wax off.

I would advise against putting any form of lubricant on the cable guard.

I had the same problem. I washed the inside of the slide & cable guard with alcohol. The problem went away. I tried dry lube silicone first and it lasted only a short period of time
