RE: summit climber shrink tubing
MQ-45,
If you "smooth down" the edges some how, then you may be able to prevent this in the future, but I will honestly tell you that it isn't worth it in my opinion. The heat plastic coating on the cables is a JOKE. It may help a LITTLE, but go look at a BRAND new Summit, and I PROMISE YOU that the cables will STILL make noise. The plastic coating is hard itself, and still makes noise when in contact with the aluminum stand. I think it is bad advertisement when Summit states that they have "quiet cables". Just isn't true.
I have tried to figure out a way to solve this problem, but I am not sure how. Probably more trouble than it is worth.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the stand, but the cables are never going to be quiet. At least not from the factory.
What Summit needs to do (IMO) is check out the traction belts that LoneWolf is using. They are SUPERIOR to ANY cables. They don't make noise, and they don't have coatings that wear off.
