How in the world do you put thunderheads together?
My uncle gave me some 3 blade thunderheads and they were not put together. I have all the blades and o rings and the furrles and the little metal piece that hold the o-rings, but for the love of God, how do you put them together? Im lost, I even cut my thumb trying to put them together,[:@] [:@]
RE: How in the world do you put thunderheads together?
The little metal pieces you describe don't hold the o-rings on. If anything, the o-rings help hold the metal pieces on.
1. Slide all of the blades into the channels & make sure they are tight against the tip.
2. Slide the metal ring on. This will go over the end of the blades to hold them on the head.
3. Slide the o-ring up tight & it should hold together good enough to let you screw it on the arrow.
Make sure you spin the arrow to see if the head is true, though.

Well, isnt that just special.[:@] I just realized I have 3 correct size blades, the rest are too short. After I get it put together and on the shaft, the blades have alot of play in them, and you can pull the blades out.
RE: How in the world do you put thunderheads together?
Acually, I got to lookin, and my heads are not Thunderheads, but they are Satellites, and the blades are for Thunderheads. Gonna have a look on Ebay and maybe find some blades for my Satellites.
RE: How in the world do you put thunderheads together?
I couldn't agree more with XzyluM about Satelites. The ones I've tried have been awful. [:'(]
When it comes to putting T'heads together, I put the ferrule into the broadhead wrench, slide each blade into place, put the retaining ring on, then the O-ring. Then I screw the head into the arrow to keep it from falling apart again.
I really don't like T'head's blade retention system. If the head works loose in the quiver and you don't catch it before you shoot, the head can shed it's blades when it hits your game. T'heads have been around for years and obviously they wouldn't be popular if they weren't good heads, but I don't like to hunt with anything where I can see an obvious 'what if'.
RE: How in the world do you put thunderheads together?
I've never used thunderheads, but I've used other heads with a similar system. Let me say, I sometimes really like the idea of the Monotec heads. One piece, no assembly, easy to sharpen. But if you do go with an assembly required head, I would strongly recommend something like the Muzzy system. Much more secure and you will feel more confident in the field if you don't always have to worry about your heads...

my 1st year bowhunting (2000) I didn't know the importance of using the highest quality equipment. Thanks to bowhunting forums like this one and edersbow I realized it very quickly.
I killed a buck my 1st year of bowhunting with a satelite mag 100. I shot him perfect and he was down inside of 40 yrs. Not much blood, but I saw him go down. Retrieved my arrow. NO Blades!!!
Exit hole was a fp sized hole. blades come out somewhere inside as that were I found them during field dressing
Do yourself a favor....Buy a quality head.

I'll bet that made field dressing a little stressful! I'd hate to stick my hand in there only to get it chopped up by my own broadhead blades!
My advice to anyone -- Keep It Simple! The less parts, the less likely it will break. Muzzy's have no ferrule, just slide the three or 4 blades in and screw on the tip. Monotecs have no parts. If I could afford them, I'd get the G5's.

It was his last chance to return the favor....but he missed. Luckily I looked him over and something didn't seem right so I was VERY careful when field dressing.
