Default GRRRRR....but.....

I just had 12 new Gold Tip XT Hunter arrows made up at a new archery shop in town. I had them put on white crestings, white fletchings, and a white nock. I wanted a right helical made out..and they made them all straight!!! [:@] I told them I wasn't going to pay for them..b/c I shoot Muzzy's..and there's no way that they'd shoot consistent to my field tips. After some talking, they said 1/2 price and 6 free mechanical broadheads.

So...ugh...I decided to take it..but I haven't decided which broadheads to get. Any advice on some GOOD mechanical blade broadheads? I get 6 for free..so I want some good ones...AND something that will go well with straight fletchings (this will be the first time in my life shooting straights too...GRRRRRR).

Any other advice for shooting/tuning straight fletched arrows?

Thanks.

I would have just told them I wanted a helical on them. I do not like mechanical heads.

I told them right helical..and they just plain messed up. It took 1 1/2 weeks to order the arrows and get them cut/fletched..and I'm not about to wait another week and a half! I have a few old arrows from last season..but...I've been thinking about switching to mechanical anyways...so this might be the right time.

Note to self, never go to that shop again....

Well, I'll take the 6 free broadheads though..and test them against my Muzzy's. I'm stout up to 40 yards...don't even plan on shooting anything over 35 though.

With a few minutes of research, I've found that NAP makes some good mechanical broadheads...

Try the G5 Montec Tekan. This thing even looks bad.

If you're going to try mechs, look at the Snypers. They fly great, and leave big holes.

hate to say this but the Tekans are probably going to be illegal in most states cause the blades are what they classify barbed.

In other words they dont freely close.

There is a big thread on them over on archery talk.

Try 'em. You might be surprised how well they fly out of a well tuned bow.

im trying mechanicals this year for the first time, actually all of the stuff in my bow is my first experience with it, carbons, a modern bow, release, and mechanical broadhheads

i am trying out the steelhead 100, mar-den mini max 3 and the NAP Spitfire

they all shoot right with my field points, but I plan to decide which broadhead to put on depending on the stand -- the mini max has a 2" cutting diameter so I would use it when there is little possiblity of a longer shot, the steelhead is much smaller so I would shoot longer with it

i hope to try them all out and see how they perform
