Can anyone recommend a simple and dependable rest?

From what I hear, the Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter and the Whisker Biscuts are excellent.

I do a lot of still hunting, so I'm on the move often. Whisker Biscuit is the only rest I'll use..and the new B2 is great!
