Default Feather cutter

Has anyone ever made their own feathers, and what were the results with them? Do they seem to be consistant? Could you also tell me where I can but a feather cutter.

Thank you and have a great day!

Default RE: Feather cutter

I haven't made my own feathers in years. Store bought feathers are just too convenient. Back in the day, I just split the quills and scraped the pith with a pocketknife, then cut them to shape with a pair of scissors. I did try a feather burner once. Works great, but my wife said she'd divorce me if I ever fired that stinkin' thing up again. Never have used one, myself, but they say feather choppers work really well.

Hope you're not allergic to traditional supplies, because that's the only place you're going to find feather burners and choppers.[8D]
