Default calculate arrow speed without chronograph

I have a chart that is supposed to calcualte your arrow speed by using your 20 yard pin to shoot a 40 yard target. You measure in inches how much the arrow drops it is supposed to give you an idea of your arrow speed. Have any of you ever heard of this, and how accuracte is it supposed to be. Also if you have the chart could you list what yours says. I realy don't the one I have is accurate. according to mine, I am shooting around 265 with a 500 grn arrow. I know my Rampages is a zippey bow, but with a 28 3/4" draw and 70 lbs with that heavy an arrow it can't be right. I figure maybe 250, I have one brass nock, string leeches, heavy loop, and a peep on the string.

I am not sure about the charts, as there are several variables that need to be considered, however, once you consider all the variables and can execute "good" shots, pin gap, or arrow drop can be extremely accurate.

There are computer programs out that can show you a ton of great information. Check this one out:

The charts are going to be a rough guide at best for one main reason. They don't take into account drag differences.

I have written a very extensive ballistic program that will very accurately calculate the speed of your bow.

you can download a free 15 day trial if you like.
