bow is a martin lynx,set at 53 pounds,arrows are epic carbon 400 with 100 grain points ,27 inches long,draw is 29 inches.just got the bow set up and it shoots bullet holes in paper and arrow seems to penetrate the target as deep as my friends 60 and 70 pound bows.i just wonder if it will shoot 225 or 250 fps.or more thanks johnny
shoot it thru a chrono that is the only way to tell how fast the arrow is traveling.
if you know the arrows total grain weight the IBO speed at 30" 70 pound you can subtract 10 to 11 fps for every inch reduction in draw length and subtract aproximatelt 2 FPS for every pound then subtract about 2 fps for every 5 GN over 350 for the weight of the arrow that is only aproximate calculation

The common mistake people make when attempting to design something completely Idiot proof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete Idiots.
You can calculate down from IBO rating, as BPS suggested. At your specs, I would expect about 210 fps. You can also calculate up from AMO specs (60#, 30", 540 gr. arrow), and it looks like 205-215 depending on the amount of stuff on your string, fletching weight, etc. Either way, the Lynx Mag is not a speed demon, but should be an accurate, forgiving bow. You may be getting such good penetration due to the bow being tuned better than your friends' bows. Hard to be sure.
