Default Help deciding between two rangefinders

Hello,
I'm in the process of purchasing a range finder. I borrowed a Yardage Pro Scout late last fall, and it proved to be one of the most valueable things I could take out in the woods. I was going to buy one when I stumbled into the Nikon 440.

Has anyone compared both of them? Has anyone used the Nikon one? Is it high quality? I really liked the Bushnell, but I think I could use the 8X.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (The price is not very relevant since I was already commited to the Bushnell.)

Bushnell Yardage Pro Scout
about $249

Nikon ProStagg 440
about $199

The 8 power on the 440 will really be hard to hold steady when at longer distances. I would go with something 6 power - say - the Nikon 660 for $249. I have had both -- the 660 is worth the extra money. The optics on this model are better than most - especially at dusk/dawn. If all you want is something to range close (100 yds and under) - go with the 440.

I've used the 440, and ranged turkeys with it that were way out there. Didn't have any problems but I can't say cuz I haven't used the bushnells. good luck

I like my Nikon 400 but I would really try them in lower light, unless you hunt fields alot. I the woods its always darker and the numbers your reading get alittle hard to read, I'll bet one will be easier.

Good Luck!

I have the BUSHNELL SCOUT.It works good and is very clear with 6x and has the brush feature that you can set it so it won't take a reading on anything closer than 150 yards which wouldn't matter much for bowhunting but handy for rifle.I've used it looking thru the shoot through mesh on my ground blind with no problems.I have no complaints and am glad i bought it.

Go to this webpage, I got my waterproof bushnell legend for 300 dollars I think. They are usually 100 - 200 dollars more at cabelas and all. I compared both, but wanted more range cause I use it for gun hunting moose and bow.

Thank you for your replies. I will go to Cabelas and take a look at them a bit more seriously after your comments.

After all.... Antelope season is 45 days away and then it's Whitetail seaon....

I bought a pair of the Bushnel Legend a couple of years ago. They are quite accurate have had no problems but the optics are lousy. Wish I had bought the Leica.
