Default is foc that important?

okay, i'm sure this question has been asked before, but i'm going to ask it again...

i am switching to feathers this season. i fletched up a test arrow tonight. with this switch, my foc will be going from 9% (with vanes) to 18% (with feathers.) both figures include the broadhead screwed in the arrow. first, i know i've always heard that the acceptable range for best flight is 8% to 18%. that puts me on the edge. my question is, should i even be worried about an 18% foc? i mean, what happens to arrow flight when the arrow has an foc much greater that 18%? something exaggerated, like 30%? will i even notice a difference? is foc that important as long as your it is something positive (not below 0%) and the arrow is correctly spined? teach me, oh wise ones, i am eager to learn...

Front of Center.
Meaning total mass or weight towards the head end of the arrow?

What is the significance of this?

I went from an FOC of 8.94% when shooting 85 gr. heads to FOC of 10.77% w/ 100 grain heads and a change in nock and vanes and it made a noticeable difference in my arrow flight! I'm now getting arrow flight out of my setup that I didn't have before...just my .02!!

uh, nevermind, i'm stupid. [8D]

i measured incorrectly...wait, let me rephrase that. i measured correctly, but wrote the wrong number down. [&:] man, i thought that was a HUGE difference for just swapping out vanes for feathers. sorry...

carry on...
