how to find the right bow

i am a new to bow hunting and was tryin to find a good bow for a noob such as me.I have gone to my local archery shop and they help me with the different bows and even let me shoot some of them. but would it be wise to buy a high end bow or just buy a (starter bow then move up to a high price one ? i have seen on other forums everyone says try all the bows and find the one that fits you what should i do?

There are lots of bows out there at descent prices. I would not buy an expensive bow at first. You might find out that you don't like bowhunting. I have not met many who hate bowhunting.

I don't think you need to go top end to find a bow that you really like ,so try as many bow's as you can. Bow's that appeal to you,buy the one that fit's you the best, whether it's the top of the line or near the middle of the pack if you like it and it feel's right then buy it .Check out as many as you can ,they'll all do the same job as the best in the market.

Here is my plan of attack

I bought a complete set, PSE Fire Flite from Cabelas. It had a bow, sight, rest and quiver already set up. I didnt have to make any complicated decisions as a beginner) I was unsure whether to get 60# or 70# so i went light at 60#

The sight and rest (3 pin sight, 2 prong rest) were entry level, they did the job but there was plenty of room for improvement.

This year i upgraded my rest and sight.

Next year i will get a new bow and the PSE will be waiting for my son when he is ready.


The initial investment wasnt a lot but it gave me a chance to get my feet wet and decide if i really wanted to hunt with a bow.

I did the same as Krotalus except my site came with 5 pins. The total package was $300. I love it and have all of the original accessories on it.
