Default Alot of Bow shooting

I have a PSE Mohave. Had it for 4 or so years. I shoot every month at least to keep my arm tuned up. And all summer, I shoot twice or so. Been doing alot of 30 and 40 yard shooting. I notice something with this bow. It will shoot 12 arrows in a row really well. Well, for me at least. I get 3" groups consistently at 30 yards. Then all the sudden, POI will drop, and groups open up to like 5" at 30 yards. I always chalked it up for my fatigue. But I don't think so anymore. I shot 30 arrows yesterday, and it started shooting crummy. So I picked up my old Martin, and shot it to see if it was my fatigue. I shot great.

Does a bow's limbs become limp after flexing some. Could my string be stretching? I had it restrung, but not the cables at lens shop in baltimore last with a PSE string. The cables have never been replaced. They have I estimate 3000 shots on them.

I think i would chalk it up to operator error--not to be offensive but if something was wrong with the bow i think it would just gradually keep getting worse.Try shooting less arrows per group and see if the does anything for ya.jmo.

I would agree. But I see this POI change every time. I always thought, that 12 arrows was my limit. But each shot feels real good and steady. If it is me, thats fine. Thats something I can work on. But right now, its in the unknow category. Which bugs me. Its not like someone, can pick up your bow thats fitted for you and verify. Unless they are the same size and all.

Just make sure you hit the deer within 12 shots and you should be fine

I would still say fatigue. 12 arrows in a row is a lot. Try 3 at a time. Shoot 3 walk up and get them, then shoot them over again. This gives your muscles and mind time to relax. At most I would shoot 6. I don't take more than 3 arrows with me outside when I shoot. I shoot a lot, but not right in row.

You should actually take time to relax between every shot. Don't just shoot arrow after arrow right in a row. I really think you are just getting tired and dropping your bow arm or something. I can't think of anything that could mechanically go wrong with a bow that would get worse as the shooting session went on, then not occur the next time you shoot it. It's either off, or it's not.

Just slow down and shoot less arrows and see what happens. And when you start shooting poorly, just stop and put the bow up. Over shooting can start some bad habits that are VERY hard to get rid off.

I shoot every day pretty much for hours at a time sometimes. Normally at least a hundred arrows on average. I can't shoot 12 arrows in a row with out falling apart by the 10'th or 11'th arrow.

Good luck,
Paul

Let me clarify. Paul, that is what I am talking about. I shoot 3 to 5. Then go get my arrows. After about the 3 set, I get POI change. I always stop, and take my time. I have shot for decades, but never really noticed a bow that does this. But this is my best shooting I have done in my life. I never consistently got 3" groups with 3 arrows at 30 yards before.

It will stay that way, until 4 or 5 hours later. I then can get the POI back up

That makes me feel better, but I still think you are getting tired. 4 or 5 hours is a long time to shoot. I would think that it is pretty normal for things to start to fall apart after that long. Is what sort of confirms this for me is that the next time you shoot the bow, it is on again. So it's not the bow, it has to be you. These things don't work like a gun, like the barrel gets hot and your impact point changes.

My only suggestion would be to shoot more often for less time. Like say an hour or so. Some pro's don't even practice that much at all. They shoot a few arrows to make sure everything is good, and stop. I can't do that because I just love to shoot. I get the feeling you are the same way. You have to be to shoot for 4 hours at a time. I will shoot off and on for a whole day sometimes on the weekends, but I will take an hour break or something, then go back out and shoot some more arrows.

Someone on here may have a different theory than I do. There are for sure wiser and more experianced archers on this site than I. However my feeling is that it is not equipment related. You just push your self too hard is all. It's a common mistake really.

Good luck,
Paul

No, I don't shoot 4 or 5 hours, I mean the POI won't move back up until I put the bow away for 4 or 5 hours. From what I recall, it didn't do this until last year, when I had the string replaced.
