Default no peep

I looked at the web site and searched hear and still have Q's.

How does this thing work. does anyone have a pic of this as you would be looking at it when shooting. Is this something that you put the pin in the center dot for sighting before the shot. I have read everything that I have found and I just don't get it for some reason. It sound like it would help accuracy and I am all for that. If I could find more info it would help me make the decision on weather or to add to my collection or not.

Your help is greatly appreciated

Spotted Owl e-mail Russel B {Ausie-Guy} he has them on all his bow's ,I was speaking to him last night about them ,I trust Ausie's opinion .He reccommended the MZE rest for my bow and he helped me out when minor little adjustment's were needed . He'd be glad to help you out with this matter. I don't think he'll be home till 11:30pm but he'll be on here when he get's home .

Spotted Owl.......maybe I can help. I have about 5yrs. experience using the No-Peep.

It's not something you look through like a scope or a rear sight.......it's a sight REFERENCE.
It will sit below (or above depending upon preference) and a bit to the side of your sight pins.
The unit consists of a lens and a fiber optic in a housing, when aligned properly to your individual anchor you will have a black dot that will center within a green fiber optic ring.
If it's off even a TINY bit you will not see anything. When set properly, everytime you anchor yu will be able to see these 2 things lined up which will tell you that you are anchoring properly and consistently. (The same thing a regular peep does)
Once set you will simply draw and aim with your pins as normal, only now you will be looking slightly down the outside of your bowstring......you take your normal anchor and the No-Peep alignment will be visible in your peripheral vision.

The best way to set it up is to leave your current peep sight attached while you adjust it to your individual anchor point....this will speed up proper set up considerably.
The tendancy for many first timers to the No-Peep set-up is to adjust their anchor to fit the setting of the No-Peep. THIS IS WRONG and will lead to inconsistent shooting because you are forcing yourself to take an unnatural anchor. You wind up chasing the setting all over the place until you are comfortable.

By leaving your familiar string peep in, this will give you a reference up and down for the No-Peep. You simply look just slightly to the side of your string peep and Adjust the No-Peep until you can see the dot and ring with your normal anchor........when you are confident this part of the adjustment is correct you can remove the string peep altogether and fine tune the windage.
Most times the windage is close and will only require a slight screw adjustment.

I love the thing.......you simply cannot beat the unobstructed field of view due to not squeezing your eye into a small peep opening, low light shooting is as good as it gets and I find it much easier to shoot with both eyes open.
It's very sensitive and will show any torque or variations in your form. You'll also pick up a little speed by removing string weight in the form of a normal peep sight.

When it's set up properly it's cool because you don't stare at it . If you stare at it you are doing it wrong.......you just draw and aim, and it will be there visible in your peripheral sight just as a confirmation that you are anchored properly.

You will find yourself being able to just draw with your eyes closed, open them and eveything is lined up perfectly. When you get that way you are using it properly and shooting and target aquisition becomes extremely fast which is a big help in a hunting situation.

My hunting bows will always carry one of these rather than a string peep.

Excellent explanation Matt. I was trying to figure out how to explain it to him. It's really hard to explain without actually seeing one.

Very good post Matt. The only thing that I would add is that this is suppose to be an achor reference and it is important to remember that. If you draw the bow back (after it is set up properly) and the no-peep does not align, do not torgue the bow to bring it back (trust me it's very easy to do), you must realign your anchor.

I have also had mine for three years, and nock on wood, no-problems at all. it works great for me and I believe it is advertised to misaligned anchors up to 1/32 inch. And I do believe it.

That is a great reply MATT. I will also have to give the no-peep a thumbs up. It is a great hunting item. I was fortunate enough to harvest a deer while using a no-peep. It is a great hunting tool It is ALOT more simple to and less hassle then the others out there such as the hind sight etc. I am not saying that the hindsight does not work I am just stating that the no-peep is a better option. It is a low profile set-up on the bow and there is really nothing that can go wrong because nothing is hanging out to get caught on stuff like some of the others. JMHO

I feel that an easy test to see if you have adjusted the no-peep to your anchor is to:
Close your eyes and draw your bow,
Come to your anchor and be sure you are securely comfortable,
Open your right eye, (assuming you are right handed) and see if the dot is in the circle.
If it is, you are done, if not make the proper adjustments and repeat the first three steps.
