Default Axis, Beman and Easton carbons

I have been wanting to ask this question. When the St Axis shafts first came out, archers who tried them were raving about them. Now it seems there are a few issues among those who have shot them for a while. Here is my question:

Are the Axis shafts any worse, better, or the same as the other Easton/Beman carbon offerings? I've shot and hunted with the Easton Carbon Evolutions the last 2 seasons with no problems, especially with broadhead flight.

Thats a very good question and one that I was beginning to think about Couger. I have been shooting the Axis for quite some time and not had any complaints with them really. I have shot the Easton Carbon Excel and the Beman ICS's as well. I will say that both the Beman, and the Carbon Excel did begin to group all over the place. The Beman's didn't seem as bad, but the Excel's were mostly all over the place to begin with.

As for what I've heard, the C2 construction process has a great deal to do with it. They tend to have a "memory" to them. Its got my attention and concern thats for sure. I used to shoot Gold Tip XT's and loved them for the most part. I may end up going back to the Gold Tip and using the Pro Hunters. The specs on them are real good.

IMO, if the Easton made arrows arent straight, or continually get worse, of course there will be a difference, especially with BH flight. We all know how important straightness is when getting good flight from them.

IME, the Easton shafts are better than their Beman counterparts..ICSH go south in a hurry...

I haven't shot enough of the camo c2 arrows to tell whether they are the same, better or worse than the black shafts like the Epic, ICSH, ST AXIS, etc...

I think you can make any of them last longer by eliminating/minimizing a couple things...don't shoot groups...any arrow collision throws them out of whack..sometimes permanently....avoid extended shooting in hard surfaces (i.e 3D targets & indoor ranges with BLOCKS, etc.....stick with bags if at all possible)..

also uninbushings will really help if you do smack them...

I tend to agree with Jeff. The Bemans start off great but after a few months of consistant shooting my groups start to open up with them. I have been using the Excels lately with relatively good groupings though it is still too early to tell how they will last. I might end up with the same opinion as MM on them.

The Axis seem to hold up a bit better, in my opinion, in terms of degradation but not much.

Few months? wish I could get mine to last that long

Some last longer than others. I've had some go out on the first day If I smacked the a$$ end with another shaft (with no visible damage). Put 'em on the spinner and sure enough the nock end is shakin' around like a hula-dancer.[:'(]

They group and fly so well when they are good..I just wish Easton could refine the straightness and fix the longevity issues instead of just bringing out a stupid new camo pattern every year as thier "innovation"
