Default Matchpoints

Has anyone tried matchpoints instead of fieldpoints. I know they are a little pricy, but I wondered how they work. Do they help with tuning when switching to broadheads? How well they remove from targets?

Good question, I have wondered the same thing. Never used them though.

I got a couple of 125gr. Satellite Match Points at a close-out sale last week. If the weather improves a bit I will shoot these and see how they work. They are supposed to simulate the weight and extra length of a broadhead since switching from a standard field tip to a BH will change your F.O.C. percentage. The concept makes sense to me. I will let you know how they work for me.

Here is what it says on the back of the package:

The Satellite broadhead system features a MatchPoint which is identical to Satellite broadheads in length, weight and balance. Tuning your bow with the MatchPoint will result in increased broadhead accuracy. Note: Your bow must be perfectly tuned for your MatchPoint to duplicate broadhead flight.

So, assuming you have a perfectly tuned bow this little gem will let you see where the broadheads will group without you shooting your hunting heads and dulling up the blades. Or tearing up your target which might just be the best thing of all. We will see...

i have some of them. my bow is tuned fairly close (i am not a pro at this...yet). my field points seem to end up about 3" off of my broadheads (work in progress). the matchpoints end up right in between the 2.

closer, yes...but still not perfect. i would believe with a better tuned bow they would be right on though...

Thanks everyone. I think I will pick up a pack and give them a try.
