Learn to judge 20 yards and then get that close before you shoot. Half the distance, half the judgement error, half the allowance for wind/uphill/downhill. At least 200% better chance of making a clean, one shot kill.

That's the way I do it. When I'm hunting, I'm too lazy to carry a pocket calculator with trigonometry and trajectory formulas programmed into it.[8D]

If you have a multi-pin sight on your bow, spend some time at full draw judging the gap between two pins at a life size 3D deer target. If your 30 yard pin is on the top of the back and the 40 yard pin is on the bottom of the chest, remember that sight picture. do the same at 30, 50 and 60. You can also mark the gaps on your pin guard at different yardages, while at full draw just like you're shooting. I believe there is a sight on the market now that already has the marks on it, but they might not be right for your draw length (distance between your eye and sight).

Go to [link]http://www.deadonrangefinder.com[/link]
it's a range finder that you stick to your pin guard.
