Default pro shop screwed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my last post(hoyt xtec problem) i stated that my new bow would only max out at 65lbs with 70 lb limbs. I asked for suggestions on this forum and JeffB answered and hit the nail on the head. Hoyts limbs are deflexed to match a specific cam. Well the pro shop moved some cams and strings to meet my needs. They failed to mention the limbs need to match the cam. So know I am stuck with a 70 lb. bow that only maxes out at 65lb. After contacting the shop he said we"ll check the speed and if that is ok then we'll leave it alone. My question to everyone is, what would you do? should I settle for this? I feel I paid over 600.00 for the bow it should be right. Also hoyt said they can't help, I will have to go through the pro shop. Thanks for your thoughts ash

ash I would not settle for anything less than the bow set up as it was designed to be. Who cares if its an inconvienience to the proshop, thats why they are there, and thats why they get the premium price. So many times I see proshops trying to sell a customer what they have in stock not neccesarily whats right for that customer, then they gripe when people turn to mailorder.

Settle for nothing more than what you wanted and paid for. If the pro shop won't fix it, call Hoyt. Pro Shops don't like having manufacturers call them about problems with customers.

Get the names of the people involved then tell them you would like things made right by them or you will be spreading the word about them and their customer service or lack there of.Of course that's assuming you didn't just stand there and let them tell you how it was gonna without speaking up--i've seen that happen a number of times, where the unhappy customer doesn't want any confrontation and just gets pushed around only to sit and stew on what happened for hours or even days, then start badmouthing because they were mistreated.[:@]DON'T GET ME WRONG--I'M JUST PUTTING OUT A SCENARIO THAT COULD HAPPEN[:'(]Any way you look at it THEY NEED TO MAKE IT RIGHT!GOOD LUCK

I agree with these guy's ,I went through a similar situation getting a bow that turned out to be something that someone pieced together ,I ended up getting what i wanted with a little help from the guy's on this forum . Don't let Hoyt give you the crap about it being the shop's problem. If Hoyt want's you to be a happy customer then they should help you out with the pro shop. I know that BowTech went out of their way for me so if Hoyt want's to stay with the pack then they better want to help out. Don't settle for anything but what you wanted . You would be surprised what negative feedback on this forum could do to help out.

As a Hoyt Dealer, I can assure you that all the bows I've ever ordered have had the limb deflection match the specific cam/draw length for that specific bow. One way that a mismatch could have happened is if the Dealer switched cams with another bow/model. In this case, it would be the Dealer's responsibility to make it 'right' or compensate you for accepting a non-standard product.

If, by chance, the Dealer received a bow that didn't meet peak weight, then it was his responsibility to notify Hoyt immediately. Trust me, Hoyt would remedy the problem if it were their fault, which I doubt. And, you will have to deal with Hoyt through this Dealer. I hope you and the Dealer can resolve this issue to your satisfaction.

Yeap, tell them you don't want it. I always had trouble because I would order specific bows. They always gave me this whats you draw length crap, we have one that will work. I always told them they can order my specific bow or I will take my biz somewhere else. I would not be an ass about it because they can stick you with it, I would however tell them your displeasure and CALMLY tell them you want a new bow. Also It is dangerous for them to put the other cams on the other limbs. One will go up on poundage and that is dangerous.

Ash,

I hate to hear that, but I figured that was the problem when you said they swapped cams

I'm very sorry to hear that your "pro"-shop gave you the answer they did..."we'll check the speed..." WTF?[:@] That's Bull$hit! What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?[:@]

Everyone else has given you very good advice. Go back, politely ask to get exactly what you wanted in the first place, and if they will not provide that to you for no charge, then tell them (nicely) you'd like to have your money back...and then handle it from there.

On a humorous note, had you WANTED 65 pound peak weight limbs, the bow would have to go through Hoyt's "custom" shop and would end up costing you another $100. You got it for free

keep us in the loop.

So did you willingly ask them to change some things around? If so, I'd say the shop may have an out. It's not right and they should know better. Be prepared to dispute the fact that their expertise should have prevented them from making such changes. Good Luck!

I guess my take on it is different. If the draw is right and you only want 65lbs this probably will perform better than a 70lber turned down to 65. So I guess it just depends on what your needs are. I definitely like shooting a bow that is bottomed out, but maybe it isn't an issue on a newer bow like the X-Tec. So it might be what the pro shop was getting at in terms of taking a look at the performance setup as is. Like was mentioned above you might just have a custom setup there if the specs are what you're looking for.
