Default Winners Choice......more noise or not ?

Twisting my Outback one more time.........if it moves again anytime soon.....I'm going to get a new set of strings and cables !

Probably would go with a Winner's Choice set ......but read a post the other day saying that they produce more noise !

Are Winner's Choice noisier than a Zebra ?

If so.......what would be a good low stretch string that would be as quiet or quieter than a Zebra string ? I'm not worried about losing a few fps !!

I think that any top quality string that DOESEN"T stretch will make a "harder" shot and produce slightly more noise. I can't see where the actual different materials cutting through the wind on a bow at the shot could make a difference as long as the diameter of the finished string is the same. I think it would be a good investment for the next 3 years if you're having trouble.

Yes , slightly , you may not even notice . If you are concerned about noise , order without the x-coat , and put some string leaches on the cabel and string . Winners choice on a mathews just makes sence , is a good move , set it and it will stay that way for a long time . They dont even compare to mathews strings , much much better .

Pre-stretched strings do inherintly have a little more "twang" to them than strings that are not. But, IMO, its negligable compared to the performance and worry free shooting you get from them. I don't even bother with stock strings anymore on most bows. I used to use Winners Choice but just bought my first set of Wolf Den strings and they are every bit as good at half the price. No complaints here so far.

Well the decision has been made !!!!

Trying to re-time my bow and get my peep lined up ........I discovered the serving on my cable had slipped and I could hardly get the cable off the peg........it was frayed when I got it off (not sure how much was me or the guy at the shop last time I had it timed) ! And my serving had seperated on my cable at the roller guard.......I pushed it back together.......but it pissed me off ! Not to mention .....my loop has caused my serving to seperate on my string !!

Getting a WC set ordered today.........but need some help !! I'll start a new thread !! Thanks for the info. guys !!

Yup the WC strings are a tad noisier than some others, even other make pre-stretched strings, but like MM stated, they (and other pre-stretched strings) are definitely worth it! The difference in noise is minimal at worst, but the lack of creep & peep rotation problems is priceless!

I have only had two bows with Winners Choice strings/cables installed. One was noisier than what I would have expected and the other was about average. I believe the material used, not just the manufacturing process, should also play a part in this...and, of course, bow design as well.
