RE: BACK TENSION RELEASE WITH SAFETY??
I have two of the Carter Solutions. They are very nice, but the safety isn't their best feature. On one it is very stiff to hold down, and actualy makes the release seem less secure.
The new TRU sounds good, the fact you can press a button to activate, and that it can be activated at any head angle, with the same amount of trigger engagement is pretty big stuff. The only comparable advantage for the Carter is that it essentialy operates as one of those thumb triggers that fires when you relax your thumb (as well as being a great BT release), if you want that option. I would want to try the Tru before I bought it, which doesn't seem all that likely to happen. On the negative side, I had two of their previous BT releases, the Hingefire (crap), and the Spike, which is pretty cool, but not really good enough to ever make it to the line. So twice bit...
I would say that all this stuff isn't really necesary if you shoot a BT release the way it should be shot. I have shot a Stan CNC 2 finger release in quite a few 3Ds, and to be honest, I did once goof a shot, but it was technique. I have goofed shots with other releases as well. Last year during a practice round, I lost my proper BT and had the cam roll forward and fire my Scott caliper. The solution to that kind of stuff is to be in good shape , and to do some blind bag shooting, which I haven't done, due to injuries, in 4 years. BT releases won't accidentaly go off if they are properly handled.
