Default Cabela's exclusive Buckmasters 4000 CPS?

Just got my new Cabela's archery catalog, as I'm sure many of you others did as well. More Hybrids this year (no surprise) including the new Outfitter series PL 1.5. The bow that really seems like it would be a great bow at a very, very resonable price (IMO) is the Buckmasters 4000. It is the Buckmasters G2 XL with Darton CPS Extreme cams, at least that is what they look like. They are advertised as CPS, although the name Darton never comes up. It looks like it would be a great bow, and the price is only $399. I think they might just sell a few of these this year.

Jeff,

I saw it as well and it really intrigued me since I have not seen one yet this year and the local shop carries the NAAG lineup. I wonder if it is a "Cabelas exclusive". I will find out this afternoon one way or the other.

Also, did you see the new Browning Mirage 1.5 hybrid? They took their rounded single cam design and threw it up on the top limb as well...looks more like the Hoyt hybrid than the CPS. I would like to get my hands on both to see how they feel and shoot.

I agree that the Browning looked interesting as well. Closer to your preferred ATA length than mine.

The Buckmasters 4000 goes to 31.5", supposed you noticed that. The catalog says Cabela's exclusive, so I guess that is the only place you can get that particular bow. I would probably be interested enough to buy and try one, if it weren't for the fact that I have a new bow on the way already.

Ahh, you are right. Regardless, I have the local shop looking into it as I cannot imagine that NAAG would not at least introduce one bow with the new cams for pro shops to sell.

I am going to have to head down there tomorrow and see if they have any in stock yet.

While the other manufactures have come up with their own cams , it does appear that the buckmasters bow is useing a darton cam , as this is an exclusive bow to cabelas , and they sell both buckmasters and darton , it could be true. It appears thy are buying straight from the source . The do mention the " cps" cam .

I noticed that it does not have the riser dampeners that the G2 XL has, but I would think if you really needed them, you could get them.

I really like the idea of the long, relatively straight riser, short laid back limbs, and the hybrid cam system. The basic setup reminds me of the Pro 38 Dual Cam. If the draw wasn't so loaded towards the end just before letoff, I think I would probably still have that one. One great shooting bow!

Shave 4-5" off the ATA, and I'd be giving it a hard hard look...

Personally the specs are just about perfect for me. I'd prefer a 7.5 brace height but I like everything else: mid length, CPS (looks like the version Champion is using), Mass weight is even not too light. Camo looks nice, cam and pocket anodize look nice(and it doesn't use Jennings' cheap cast pockets like on the original Buckmaster).

The only thing I know I wouldn't like is that somehow and somewhere down the line Jackie Bushman is getting a few $ out of the deal [:'(]

Oh and the grip. I don't care for that grip. I prefer the grip of the original Buckmaster.

Great price for that bow, especially w/ Limbsavers.

Jeff C.,

Not to highjack your thread but I just thought I'd tell you I was in Kutztown earlier this evening (Weaknechts) and I'm staying in Temple, PA. Had I known errr I mean remembered you live there I would have tried to get a hold of you so we could meet. Maybe next time huh?...

Regards, Pat
