Basically it sends the arrow out of the bow... Um whats the word... Not straight. Set it up square, then shot through paper, to see if it is right. Archery Steps to Success By Haywood and Lewis is a great book to learn archery with, I would highly recommend spending the 20 bucks on the book. It goes very well through tuning, form and fine tuning. Hope this answered your question, it just comes out "not straight" and the fletchings have to straighten the arrow.
