If you are going to stay at that draw weight 500's should be fine, however I just went through this for my Dad and I went with 400's. They are a little stiff but going to a heavier BH will weaken them up some, there is kind of a fine line at that draw length and weight between the 2.The 400's also give you the option to go to more draw weight and still be in as far as the Easton chart goes. These are only suggestions and there are lots of different ways to look at it but I'd rather be on the stiff side spine wise and be able to weaken it than be on the weak side to start with.

Guess each is an individual but I can shoot 27" Beman ICS 500's up to 63 lbs. My draw is 27 1/2". That's the highest I've shot them. I can also shoot ACC 3-18's up to about 60lbs and I think the spine on them is .560". I used to shoot 400's but found I gained an incredible 20fps going to the 500's. I never thought it would be that much, but the chrono doesn't lie.

BG that's interesting, I did these arrows for my Dad knowing he was going to stay around 55lbs and the Easton chart changes from 400's to 500's just by changing the tip weight, I'll have to see how these work for him and maybe try 500's next time.

The chart only gets you close to the correct spine. What i would do if i was you for hunting, would be buy the 400's cut them about 2 inch longer then they should be. Then shot a bare shaft at 20 yards. It should hit well to the left of the target (Weak). Then i would cut 1/4 inch off of the arrows. Shot them again until the bare shaft is hitting in the group of fletched arrows. I would use 125 points too. The heavier the better, for hunting. Just my idea on what to do. Why do you want to get rid of the slams?

I would suggest some 3-28 ACC's(500 spine) or the Axis arrows in a 500 spine.With no heavier than a 100 gr point.

You should be real close on spine with these and have a little heavier weight than some of the carbons on the market.

I shoot 3-28's at 60# and 28 1/2" - 28 3/4" draw for 3-d and I am still in the green on Archers Advanage with spine but just barely.That bow shoots 270 with this setup and is awesome.But I would not hunt with that aroow,I have 3-39's for that.

gromage and others,
Consider this one if you will. two shooters shoot the same arrow length and bow weight. One man has a 27" draw and shoots a 27" arrow. The other has a 30" draw and shoots with a 3" overdraw, so he shoots a 27" arrow. Can both men shoot the same spined arrow?

The answer comes tomorrow>>>>>>>>>>&g t;

I'd say no, because the 30" draw has 3" more of powerstroke than the 27" draw. *assumeing all else is equal, ie brace height.*
