Default Slight high nock tear.

Been out shootin a little today and gettin great groups.I set up my paper tunin rack and shot through the paper at 6 ft three times and got a slight high nock tear backed up to 10ft and still just slightly high nock.I have always heard it was better to be a little high nock than low nock.I am very satisfied with the accuracy of my bow my groups have never been tighter but I want the arrow coming out as straight as possible because of better penetration. It is ever so slightly nock high in fact it is not actually a tear the hole made by the nock is sittin right on top of the hole made by the point. Is this acceptable or should I work on it a little? My bow is shootin so good I hate to start jackin around with it because I think that I may be a hair overspined anyway I am shootin a 26" 55/75 goldtip with 100 grain field tip at 70lbs and a 27" draw length and according to my goldtip chart I am borderline any shorter I would need 35/55.What do you guys think? Thanks!

By all means, don't mess with it! Paper tuning is only a start in the tuning process and some don't even use it. I've become less and less dependant on it myself. Have you shot broadheads out of your setup yet? Have you checked clearance on the rest? If you aren't getting rest contact and you find your broadheads grouping with those field points, call it a day and and hide your wrenches!

I know, I know, easier said than done.

A tiny little tear like described is absolutely nothing to worry about. Think about this. Have you ever shot till you got perfect holes in paper only to group tune and find you need to move your rest left or right? Kina defeats the purpose dont ya think? Let the bow talk to ya, not the paper.

Thanks muzzyman,Thats exactly what I think I am gonna do LEAVE IT ALONE!It never failed in the past I would have my bows shootin good and figure I could make em shoot a little better and end up gettin the whole thing out of WHACK!![:@]Usually happens right before bow season when I start shootin alot and wearin myself down and start gettin a few flyers instaed of quittin for a while and restin I get out the wrenches and really fix things good!Anyway I am gonna leave well enough alone my new four blade stinger broadheads shoot just like darts at 20 yards have not shot them at 30 or 40 yet though should do okay I figure. Thanks!

Shot a bare shaft to 20 yards. If it hits low (Which it should with a slight high tear) Either move the arrow rest up, or the nock down, SLIGHTLY. If they hit left (Release) the arrows are weak. Either put smaller point weights on the arrows, shorten the arrows, or turn the draw weight down. If they hit to the right they are strong and do the opposite adjustments of the weak arrows. Broadhead arrows will generally group between bare shafts and fletched shafts, so you can replace them for the bare shafts.
