Default Rest tension

I am using a quik-tune 1000 rest on an MT sport with command cams. I use a tru-ball release. Right now I have the rest set so light that it only raises as the arrow is drawn. I am shooting almost pefect bullet holes through paper and am getting pretty tight groups with field points. I really want to get tuned perfectly in order to get my broad heads grouping more tightly.

My question is this: is it possible that my rest is not perfectly positioned and the really low tension is masking any error? In other words would it be better to tune with the tension set higher and then loosen it a bit after the rest seems to be positioned perfectly or should I continue working with the low tension?

Thanks.

I left out an important piece of info. I loosened the tension just a tiny bit and I got the same almost perfect bulletholes but my arrows shifted their point of impact about 1 1/2 " to the right. This is what suggested to me that there is some guiding/ steering going on but the holes would seem to negate that??? For further info, I also shoot with back tension.

You may get mixed opinions on this. Everyone at the pro shop, including myself, suggest a much stiffer setting on the spring tension. However, I know some who are like you and use just enough to hold the arrow up. To tell you the truth, logic would seem to use as little as possible, but I have always had best results with stiffer settings.

Just wanted to agree with RH...More tension on your rest generally will help you more..

I have the best luck setting rest tension to where by pushing the arrow rest down, with an arrow on the string, the tension is just enough to fully raise the rest, but no more.
