Default losing arrow speed?

I have a bear vapor 300 and since setting it up 3yrs. ago i have lost about 8fps. I was thinking maybe new strings & cables might help but local pro shop says the old ones are ok. i know its not that big a deal but would like to get it back if i can.

After 3 years you should definetly replace your strings and cables. It is best to replace them every year. Have your bow taken down and lube the bearings and axles also.

Are you shooting through the same chronograph as you did before? Not all chronos are 100% accurate.

I agree that the string/cable should be replaced...not necessarily because of your speed concerns but rather because of potential safety concerns. Though the timing on that single cam might have also changed because of creep issues thus causing a loss in some efficiency.

The speed loss could be attributed to a variety of issues. Have you changed anything else on the bow? Added string accessories? Changed release methods? Rests? Anything?

Second, though increasing draw weight and draw length should, theoretically, add to arrow speed it could also reduce arrow speed if in increasing both variables you end up having too weak of a spine with your arrow. If the arrow flexes too much then you are wasting valuable energy the second you let go of the bowstring.

Hope this helps some.

This past summer adjusted and paper tuned my set up,66#@ 28.5, shooting easton 340 caron epics w/100grain tips total weight 423gr. @261fps now shooting 254fps like I said its not that big a deal it still shoots great, very accurate & QUITE! But would still like to get the speed back if I can. Thanks again.

If you shoot the bow alot over 3 years maybe it is the string and cables.Maybe Pa can elaborate a bit more on this but "maybe"the string is stretched a bit and its not going to its full wall when you are at your anchor point, that could result in arrow loss also
