Speed Trap!!

I was wondering who has actually put their setup to the test of cronographing? I'm just curious and doing some bow comparisons for shopping purposes. Please list what it cronoed at, draw length, poundage and name of bow. Liars need not apply.

I have a chrony in the garage and last week I changed out 60# limbs for 70# on my Q2.I'm shooting only a 28.5" draw and a CX 3D Select in the high 60s' and getting exactly 290 fps. Not a barn burner,but plenty fast for anything I would ever need.

I put all of my bows through my chronograph...after I am done setting them up and tuning them.

The last bow I owned, Hoyt Havoctec Versa, was set for a 65 lb draw weight, 31 inch draw length and shooting a 420 grain arrow it shot 275 fps. With a 360 grain arrow it shot 288 fps. That is with a fully loaded string...brass nockset, rubber eliminator button below it, two rubber eliminator buttons below the idler wheel and a medium sized Shurz-a-Peep peep sight.

With just a tie on nockset and with the bow set at the same specs I got 297-298 fps out of it. If I bumped the draw weight up to 70 lbs then I should have gotten another 9-10 fps out of it which would put the total speed up to around 307-308. That would be about right since the IBO speed for the bow is 300 fps and I am shooting a one inch longer draw length.

350gr. A/C/C 3-49 SPEED= 318fps
370gr. Fat Shaft SPEED= 309fps
450gr. 2314 XX78 SPEED= 283fps

Matt,

I have a question for you. You stated that you are getting 336 fps out of the Pro38 with an IBO setup...70 lb draw weight, 30 inch draw length, 350 grain arrow...... but yet the Bowtech webpage lists speeds for the Pro38 to be between 312 and 320....

How do you account for the extra 16 fps that you are getting?

Frank......Mine has the &quot;BK&quot; dual cams.
They're &quot;just a bit&quot;<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> quicker than the original Post Feed or Infinity cam.

In reality mine is probably about 20-25fps faster than a 2001 single cam version.....16 would be about right for the single cam comparison if you took the highest rated bare string single Vs. my dual with a string loop. Mine would probably do just about 340fps with a bare string....

I just &quot;speed-tested&quot; my Hoyt Havoctec Versacam last night. With the cam set at 27&quot; shooting a 28.5&quot; Gold Tip XT 5575, it was shooting 229 with feathers and 226 with vanes. And I'm only set at about 50 lbs, with Sim's String Leeches, a large Shurz-A-Peep, single brass nock and a string loop. I've got 10 more pounds of weight to go. Can't wait to whiz an arrow through a deer.
