Default Right or Left Helical

I currently fletch my arrows with a straight clamp. I would like to try a helical clamp. Is there any advantage in using a right helical clamp over a left helical clamp. I shoot right handed and I do understand you need fletching clearance on your rest. My current set up is beman 400's with 100 grain Rocky Mountain Snypers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A helical fletch will help stabilize your arrows , right or left is a personal pick, I have shot both and can tell no difference in any flight over the other. many target shooters shoot straight fletch but I'll use my right helical for 3-d shooting anyday over straight fletch.and never use anything but helical for hunting.
Just give it a try on your longer shots and see how much more consistant your groups are.

One thing to consider........a right helical will not have the tendency to unscrew your tips from the shaft upon impact. Other than that, I've heard it was a consideration on longbows and recurves where torque was a major concern, but the left vs. right debate is a matter of personal preference now - aside from my above minor point.

I shoot right helical and my tips will still come loose if I don't tighten them down enough.

One thing to consider is the availibility of feathers. Right helical requires right wing feathers which can be more difficult to find than left wing. I suppose it is a non issue if you order feathers by the 100 pack, but around here, the selection of RW feathers is about 1/10 of the LW selection.

Try using a little string wax on the threads of your broadheads this should stop the heads from coming too loose on impact.

Thanks everyone for the help. I picked up a left helical clamp (the only one they had) today and am going to give it a try.

Again thanks for the responses.
