Default Why Trophy Taker

I notice a boat load of folks shoot a TT rest for 3D I am curious why you folk shoot a drop away for 3D, what is its application? Noone is shooting Helical fletching so why the drop away?

Lots of guys shoot helical that I've seen, including me. I would say that there are probably other guys like who shoot 3-D as a means to practice hunting shots. Because of this, I shoot the same arrow in terms of fletching and weight that I plan to use during the season.....minus the broadhead, of course.

The drop away gives those double-duty bows consistency to take into the hunting season.

I merely prefer the drop aways, and have them on all my bows.

I, too, have seen many 3D shooters with helical fletching. Despite the minor loss in speed the helical does promote accuracy which would seem to be just as important in 3D as it would be in a hunting scenario.

2droptine,

I was looking into shooting a drop-away just simply for fletching clearance. I do shoot an offset fletching but it isn't like a full helical. I will be going to my first 3-d shoot in a week, and I am excited as he!!. I will still be trying to get a drop away this year, just for tuning purposes.

Thanx for the Input Guys.
I currently shoot a Bodoodle Zapper on my Cybertec with an offset fletch on my hunting setup and am very satisfied with it, I am looking at buying an Ultratec and set it up for 3D and thought maybe I was missing something. And if I can get away without a dropaway I will.

I shoot a Trophy Taker or another drop away for the simple fact that for me, they are more forgiving to shoot. I too am shooting a good helical on my arrows and yes, they do help accuracy. This is my hunting and 3D this year. If I get that cash for my Ultratec for next season, it will have a drop away as well, most likely the TT.

I have found that out of all the drop aways I've shot in the last few years, the TT is the most accurate.
