I wax mine every week during the summer (when I shoot a lot) or after hunting during the cold weather or rain, I like to a re-apply it to the string, I would rather keep it in good shape and all!

Martin recommends waxing every time you shoot. Seems like that's excessive but I try to follow their advice.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT I WAX MY STRING ALMOST AFTER EVERYTIME I SHOOT IT WHICH IS QUITE A BIT , AND MY STRING WILL LAST TWICE AS LONG AS MY BUDDY'S, I CAN USUALLY GET ABOUT 2 YEARS OUT OF A STRING AND MY BUDDY ABOUT A YEAR, AND WE PRETTY MUCH SHOOT ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME.
