Default Picking up a Bowtech Patriot

Just went to the Pro-Shop today and asked him to set up a 2004 Patriot for me that I should be taking home tomorrow. I liked the Liberty alot, but the extra speed and shorter ATA did it for me with the Patriot.
I'll be adding this stuff to it:

1. Copper John 5 pin (.019 or .029, not sure)
2. Trophy Ridge Drop-Zone
3. Doinker 4"
4. Lil-Goose Deluxe release
5. Tru-peep
6. Alpine Archery 5 arrow bow quiver

Can't wait to get it all set up and shoot!

It draws 73lbs @ 29". I've got a dozen 7590 Gold Tips on the way and they'll have 5" shield cut feathers at full left helical. These spears I'll be throwing are another reason I went with the bow that could better throw them. I like an arrow "under control", even if it means sacrificing a few fps for the sake of hunting.

Congratulations Fritz! I am also taking the Bowtech plunge this week. I went to the shop today too and looked at the Pat. and Liberty. I didn't shoot them because I forgot my release. Did you shoot both bows? Is there much difference between the two in your opinion? I keep going back and forth for the same reasons you mentioned. The draw seemed a little stiffer on the Pat, but not that much different. The valley was similiar as well. I don't know what to do!! Here's what my set up will be:
1. Copper John Deadnuts PRO .015 with afterburner
2. Trophey Taker Shakey Hunter Micro Long Rest
3. Alpine Soft-Lock Quiver
4. Stealth Stabilizer
5. Fletcher Trupeep
6. String loop
7. Beman ICS 400 arrows.

Good luck with the New Bow!

Mrfritze! I took the plunge today, I intended to buy either the Liberty or the Patriot and ended up with the Patriot dually. They didn't have either the Pat s/c or the Liberty for me to try, but they had the dually there so I test shot it. I couldn't help but really love it . I wanted to bring it home but it was a staff bow so I had to get him to order it in .
I really liked the feel and when I was drawing it it didn't seem like I was pulling 60# I mean my Golden Eagle Splitfire is max of 60# and The patriot seemed to draw alot easier than my eagle I have a 28" draw at 60#on it's way and I can't wait to get shooting it.

Congratulations Fritz. I guess I won't have to worry about you stopping by to try out the MM VFT then. I am curious though as to which shop you are ordering it from...Weaknechts? Peak Performance? or one of the more distant ones?

Let us know how it works out for you.

Aren't both of these bows 33" ata?

If they are, did the Patriot "feel" like a shorter bow to you?

The Liberty is 33 1/4" axle to axle.

Don't forget to add the several inches you gain on the Liberty's larger wheel and cam that results in a noticably longer bow!

I shot both bows several times and the Liberty is the smoother bow, but only by a hair. The Patriot is noticable faster, and this is what I primarily wanted since I'll be hunting and shooting 3-D with it. My range finding is terrible and I refuse to by a range finder!

PABowHunter, did I buy some muzzleloading stuff off of you the other day? I bought from PP given his price on accessories, but more importantly, he had the bows in stock along with several '03 models. The money was burning a hole and I wanted to jump before something broke and the money vaporized.

I don't know the speed of it yet, and I figure I'll come in low given the arrows I'm throwing. It'll also have a string loop on it. I'd like to say that I'm getting close to 300 with it, but we'll see.

I really liked the Liberty and it looks better than the Patriot with the larger wheels, but I went for a finesse bow in my old Hoyt and never could get the speed I wanted out of it. Hopefully this thing will help me stop consistently missing bucks by an inch over their back which I've done 5 times now in 3 years! Things look farther in the woods than on the range to me. Even the one I took this year gave me two shots at him after managing to call him back in. That doesn't happen too often though..........
