Default Backing down limbs?

Just wondering if anyone has data on how backing limbs off their maximum weight affects efficiency?
So, would it be better to have 60 lb. limbs maxed out or 70 lb. limbs set at say 65 lbs. Which would be better from an efficiency, accuracy, etc. perspective.
Thanks.

Default RE: Backing down limbs?

Years ago, there was some data out that showed that bows were more efficient if shot at close to their maximum draw weight. Sorry, it's been too long and I don't remember the source. I think it might have been AMO, but not sure.

I do know, from personal experience, it's easier to quieten a bow the closer to it's maximum weight it is.

I would buy a 60 lb bow it will be much more efficient with the limbs bottemed out. If you want a few more pounds you can twist up the strings and cables and gain a few more pounds that wayand there is a good chance it will be a little more efficient. I agree with Danny45 the bow will probally be much quieter if the limbs are bottemed out. Remember also that if you order a 60lb bow it will probally come in a few pounds heavy around 62 or 63 pounds.
I hope I helped.
