Default carbon shafts

My questions may sound trivial to some of you more accustomed to carbon shafts. A carbon shaft that weight approx 290 grains seems to light to shoot from my bow that I normally shoot 2514 shafts from. Will the light weight of the carbon have any detrimental effect on my bow?

Also

I was thinking that I would increase my draw lenght 1" as I need to as I am now shooting to short a draw lenght. What difference will that 1" make to arrow speed etc. etc.?

Thank you

trevwill,

Can you please explain the setup of your bow a little better? The basic rule I use and I'm sure others do to is no less than 5 grains per pound of draw weight. You should gain around 8 fps I believe though for the one inch of draw length. Hope this helps.

The 290 grain number that you are getting is the bare shaft with no components added to it. Add the broadhead, insert, fletching, and nock and you will likley be in the neighborhood of 425 to 475 grains for a finished arrow. Depending on the exact components that you use.
