I really like the looks and specs of the Patriot(single and dual cam) and the 2004 Liberty. I' m undecided as to go with a single or dual cam. I want good speed and kinetic energy. My current setup is a Hoyt MagnaTec, 29" draw set at 74#. Any recommendations or opinions will be appreciated when I go to the dealer for some test drives. This bow will be my primary hunting rig.
Thanks

I Really like my ' 03 Patriot Dually and then again, I REALLY like my ' 02 Patriot single. That said, my ' 03 Pro 40 Dually black and pewter is a beautiful bow that shoots even better than it looks!!!! Keep in mind though that my wife shoots her Tec 29 better and faster than anything she' s had in the last 20 years
I guess I' m trying to say that you can' t go wrong with a BowTech!!!! Will I buy more BowTech bows in the future?[&:] No question
The Patriot single is quieter and easier to draw. The dual cam is faster. The Liberty will be even easier to draw, and quieter yet, though slower. Any of these bows will make a fine hunting setup. It comes down to what you like in a bow. I had an 02 Pat single and now shoot an 03 Pat Dually, which I like better. I can' t wait to try the 04s. After shooting them I' ll decide which to get. As wwag said, they' re all good choices.
One suggestion. If you try the Patriot Dually, shoot a 60#er, as well as a 70#er. You may find 60# to be plenty in this bow.

BOWTECH THERE IS NO EQUAL. JUST THE EQUALIZER.
If you were forced to pick either the single cam or dual cam Patriot, which one would you choose and why? I' m sure this will be a hard one for you to answer!

I would pick the Dually because when the string and cables settle in, after about 200 shots in some warm weather, that' s pretty much where it will stay. You can do so much more with a dual cam bow! If you have a 70 pound dually and want it bottomed out but only want to shoot 65 you can untwist the cables and string to lower the poundage and decrease the brace slightly. When a Dually' s string stretches slightly, you will see a slight increase in draw weight, draw length and speed without much or any loss in accuracy. When you have a cable stretching on your bow, it will be very slightly noticable in feel during the draw cycle and you' ll know that you might need to put in a 1/2 twist or so in one of the cables. All of my BowTechs have been the most reliable bows that I' ve owned in 31 years. My ' 02 single is a true sweetheart of a shooter, so quiet but 14 fps slower than the Dually that is threatening the lives of every big buck in my woods this year. This Dually is a power house of a shooting machine!!! Shoulder hits?? No sweat
VAhntr, I feel much the same as wwag. The tuning options are a real plus. I like the feel of the draw cycle and narrow valley. These are personal preferences, though. To me, the rollover of the cams is less abrupt with the Dually. This may be due to the narrow valley but, it' s more to my liking. Mine is set at 57# & shoots a 375 gr arrow 288. These things hit like a truck, for whatever reason. I was at a 3D shoot where they had a steel deer with a small hole to shoot through (fun shot). People who missed were breaking arrows, or bouncing back. I calmly used the wrong pin & my arrow exploded[:' (], nearly knocking the target over and putting a deep dent in it. If you creep tune the dual cams they can be very forgiving to " lazy" shooting (creeping). I may look hard at the new Liberty, but I' ll always have a dual cam bow, also. Then I' ll just decide which to shoot which days.

Ok, I will be the sole voice of " opposition" on this one. I would vote for the 2004 Patriot SC for several reasons. One, the new model is faster by several fps than its 2003 and 2002 predecessors. Its speeds now approach that of the dual cam model though it takes a shorter brace height to do it. Two, the draw cycle on the single cam model is smoother than the dual cam bow and it offers a very comfortable and adjustable valley and percentage of letoff. Three I think the single cam bow is generally quieter than the dual cam model without the use of any additional accessories besides what is provided from the factory.
On a related note, though I like the specs and overall design of the Liberty, if you want a big boost in speed without giving up much if any forgiveness then the Patriot " brothers" are the way to go.
