Default first single pin sight (black gold ascent verdict)

So I got a new bow and decided to try a single pin sight. I've never used one before.

my dumb(wish) question is: when adjusting it for each distance, do I continue to align the sight ring with my peep?
Doesn't this change my anchor point slightly?

I'm a little frustrated, and want to get this sorted out before I burn through a zillion tapes trying to make it work.

thanks in advance!
