Default Need help understanding Hoyt' s Cam.5

My dad is ordering a Hoyt UltraTec. His drawlength is 29" and he shoots 60 lbs. (so far pretty easy).

When he spoke to a Hoyt rep they told him that he wanted to be in the ' D' or ' E' position on the cam module. They specified that there were several modules. The first module they recommended covered drawlengths in 1/2 in. increments from 27 in. to 29.5 in. (A=27, B=27.5, C=28, D=28.5, etc.) or a second module that ranged from 28 to 30.5 (D=29.5). However the pro shop where he was ordering the UltraTec said that the cam ranges from 27.5 to 30 (D=29). This is 1/2" difference in adjustability from what we were told.

So, the question is a) what are the adjustment ranges on the cams and b) which module should he order to get the best performance? Can someone clear up the 1/2 in. discrepency betweed the pro shop and the Hoyt rep' s advice on cam adjustments. Is there any real difference in cam module postions (say if we ended up in a C position vs. a D position)?

I hope this is clear. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: Need help understanding Hoyt' s Cam.5

If the bow has xt2000 limb, then the proshop is wrong. If it has xt3000 limbs, then they are right.

xt2000....draw range 5.....27" -29.5" .......draw range 6.......28" -30.5"

xt 3000....draw range 4.....27.5" -30"

I would take the advice of the factory rep.If your dad likes a valley, then he might want the 28" -30.5" cam 1/2.It will have a bit more valley, but will give up quite a bit of speed. The 27" -29.5" will be much faster and should give a more solid feeling wall.Matter of preference.I would also suggest getting a 50#-60# model if shooting 60#' s.
