Anchor point?

What do you guys use as your anchor point? I' ve always just drawn and put the release along the side of my face.(which probably resulted in my inconsistencies) My question is I took my bow in to the same person that intially set it up and now my draw length is an inch and a half shorter? because he said I should be putting the string against the tip of my nose? He has seen me shoot several times helping me paper tune last year. He now has my bow and I guess I' ll be going back tomorrow for lessons on anchor point. I just find it hard to believe that my draw length will be shortened that much.

Most compound shooters put the string to their nose - it is a very good anchor point.

But one reference point is not enough

Some catch a fletching with there mouth - or also use a kisser button

I place the " v" between my thumb and pointer finger into the back of my jaw bone as a second reference point.

Then add the peep sight - and that makes three reference points - a good start to consistant anchoring

I used to put the corner of the fletching in my mouth, that was a great one, but you still need others in conjuction. Now, I put my release shaft in a hollow between my gums and chin, and tip of my nose on the string. Tip of your nose on the string is fabulous for keeping from flying left or right. If your looking for one thing as a good anchor point, use the tip of your nose!

Assuming you guys are right handed, when touching the string to the tip of your nose do you aim looking to the right of the string or to the left?

This is a personal preference.

Personally, I put my draw-hand thumb at the base of my jaw bone with the " big" knuckle of my index finger essentially in my ear hole. On top of that I put the tip of my nose on the string. These things in conjunction with a peep gives me 4 points of reference.

For one you probably experienced some string & cable stretching since last year, causing the need for the draw to be shortened again. Although over a inch does sound like little too much. Possibly the initial setup wasn' t exact also. But I wouldn' t worry about it as long as you get it right this time. Touching your nose with the string is an excellent anchor spot, and most commonly used. Its very consistant. Once you have it right, make a few pencil marks on your cam. I like to draw a line on each side of the limb for identification purposes for string stretch down the road. As far as the shorter draw your better off getting the right anchor consistancy. I find most have too long of a draw. I guess being men we get this macho attitude sometimes that longer draws, and more pounds means more speed. But that always leads to inconsistancy!

String to the middle of my nose and I have a Knot tied onto my string that serves as a kisser. That knot goes to the corner of my mouth.

string to tip of nose
string to corner of mouth (WITHOUT making some weird face to reach it...should just be there naurally)
knuckles to back of jaw (thumb release held thumb down)
looking through peep (no tipping head forward or back)

I guess the string stretch along with the combination of the loop appearing to be longer than it was (stretch also) it would make the difference but when he measured me with their " measuring bow" I was shorter. I had oringinally measured 33" and now acording to them it' s 31.5" (i" m 6' 6" ) I' m going to do the nose to string and try to use one of the other one or two reference points you guys pointed out and hopefully it will tighten my groups. I just wished they had measured me right the first time because 31.5 would had given me alot more options on picking out a bow! This will be my third year bow hunting and I love it but my bow had never felt " right" maybe it was because it was to long all the time? I hope so.

I have two anchor points. I put a cushion button just above my D-loop on my string and anchor with it in the corner of my mouth with my the string touching my nose and look to the right of the string at my pin with no peep sight. This is my hunting set-up and works well for me.
