Default Please Help! Tired of unreliable work!

Can someone please recommend some good books/videos to help me learn how to maintain/tune ect.... (basically everything) my bow so I DO NOT have to take it to someone and hope they do things the right way only to find out the while taking a shot on a record book antelope that because someone tied my kisser button wrong my arrow flew way above his back only to watch him run off probably never again to have him with in bow range again.

1 Eye, the best book I know of is called " Tuning & Silencing Your Bowhunting Shooting System" , by Larry Wise.

Am I reading this corectly? The first shot you took after having work done to your bow was at a book goat? And your wondering why you missed? Don' t blame the shop if you didn' t practice with your rig before you went hunting.

Theres lots of good info available to you right here. Have you read Eastons tuning guide? Download and read it here. http://www.eastonarchery.com/news/tu...ning_guide.pdf

Nub, I know this is my first post here but please give me some credit.[] No, that was not the first shot I took. I had work done then would shoot 50+ arrows only to go out the next time and after only a few shots something would come un-done. The last time the string completely came off my Cam. That was the final straw. I have since taken my bow to a different shop over 50 miles away had a new string/cable put on and have vowed learn how to do it all myself rather than risk injury most importantly, and/or miss due to someone else' s mistake, lack of attention to detail, or any other possibility. At least that way if something does go wrong I have no one to blame but myself. I used that as a scenario, I just want to learn the right ways to do all my own maintenance on all my bowhuting equipment now just my bow but arrows, rests, strings, ect.....

OK pal, I feel your pain. You are new here and it wouldn' t be the first time someone didn' t practice enough before their hunt. WELCOME TO THE BOARDS! Want to learn how to take your bow apart and put it back together? This is the place. We have some of the best frequent this board. Just don' t be a smart ass to the big guns or they' ll stop answering your threads. We are a warehouse of archery links. Need a press but can' t afford one? We have links on how to build them. Want to make your own strings? We have links for that too. Anything you need, some one here either has one, had one, or can find one.

If I came across as a smart ass, I' m sorry just frustrated with what seems like incompetency. I truely want to get everything I can from everyone here! Any knowledge you can pass on would be greatly appreciated! I am curious about building a press but not abjected to spendin the money to buy a decent press ( any recommendations?) I just want to learn how to do thing the right way the first time. Oh and by the way I took a look at the books you folks have reccommended and Thanks to you guys and Amazon they wil be in the mail soon. Thanks for your help and I am looking forward to the wealth of information you folks can help me with!

1 eye - Welcome

I have been using the Bowmaster cable press for a few years for about 35 bucks. Takes a little longer than a " real" press but does fine for home jobs.

So sorry, wasn' t referring to you. I was speaking from experience.

1 eye, if you want send me an e-mail. I can send you attachments of the press I built and also the string jig (easy to make especially if someone can turn your posts). Made the press for under $50.00 and the jig for about $20.00. If you know the basics it really isn' t hard to pick up the rest. You can also use the search feature here and find stuff quickly. Good luck.
P.S. I was thinking the same as nub so glad you explained that.
