posted in the bowhunting section, but I was suggested to drop it over here too
Ok, I have been shooting guns all of my life. Never really shot archery but I have wanted to get into it. I got the chance to buy a Diamond bow at a silent auction a few weeks ago. The bow itself is nice, good condition, smooth draw, and I only paid $70 for the bow with a nice hard case.
The problem, and reason I need a model for it is that the draw lenght is too long, so I need to try and find a new set of cams for it to reduce it a bit.
It says Diamond in several places, but no model name. The auction has it listed as a 50-70lb draw bow, set at 50lb.
congrats on your desire to learn to bowhunt. My only suggestion if you are new to the sport is to visit a local bow shop or archery range and visit w the folks there about getting properly measured for your correct draw length (based on proper shooting form) and to try different bows to see what you like. the old adage "you get you what you pay for" may apply in this case...no knock on you --- but if you are serious about learning to bowhunt, you need to start by learning to shoot w a bow that fits you, not by trying to adapt to a bow you bought at auction without knowing what the bow's draw length is (or what your draw length is). Good news is that you may get some $ for a trade possibly, or maybe the pros at the local shop might be able to find cams that fit you. But trust me, learning the basics the correct way and practicing (practice, practice, practice) the correct form will go a long way to converting you away from the cheater stick to the bow. There's a great book by Bernie Pellerite called 'Idiot Proof Archery - How to shoot Like A Pro' u can buy online at Amazon that is a great way to learn the sport from all perspectives. Good Luck, and stick with it ---- you won't go back to a gun if commit to it
