Default more Target Panic questions

This may be some of the stupidest questions yet, but...
I' ve read so many threads on target panic. Does anybody who suffers from target panic, ever have it occur while hunting? Or, is it only while trying to shoot paper?
Also, if you were to see a fly walking across the same target, would you suddenly be able to shoot at it (the fly) without the panic?
How about bare bow shooters? Does no sights = no target panic?
Just some questions to ponder (worry?) on!!!

PS: I was thinking of selling some " Do It Yourself - Frontal Labotamy" kits on Ebay.
Think they' d help? Think I' d become rich?

{ Definately not making light of the subject. Suffered from it for a long time. Just curious. }

Default RE: more Target Panic questions

There are so many forms of target panic that it' s pretty darned impossible to pigeonhole each shooter. I never had problems with it while hunting, but I' d go totally bonkers when shooting a target. If you can see a fly walking across a target, you' ve got better eyes than I do , but I' ve zapped a bunch of big yellow grasshoppers crawling up a target at the same time I couldn' t get an arrow into a dot to save my bacon.

Barebow shooters do get target panic. I think it' s a lot rarer than with sights shooters though. For the longest time, I thought I had target panic with my recurve. Turned out to be too much draw weight on my arthritic joints.

Default RE: more Target Panic questions

I would say that I actually had/have a mild case of target panic. My groups have always been consistent, but getting the arrows into the X has been a problem. That being said, they have always been more than adequate for hunting purposes.

About a month ago I started practicing with a pure backtension release (TruBall Ultra Sweet Spot 3). This has really forced me to concentrate on my aiming. After 4 weeks or so, the target panic seems to be dying off, my groups are getting much closer to the X and I no longer tense up at the shot. This has correlated to much better overall accuracy with my wrist/hunting release.

That being said, I think the Lobotomy kit might also work, but then again I really don' t have much gray matter to spare.
